Heat Loss

Steady-state envelope heat loss. Set climate and infiltration here — configure surfaces on the Surfaces tab.

Climate

Select city · equivalent outdoor temperature ≈ 18.0 °C (from HDD Base 18).

New Zealand · southern hemisphere (north-facing glazing is sun-facing) · compliance basis: NZBC H1 Energy Efficiency (5th edition) — H1/AS1 housing, H1/AS2 non-housing

Ground temperature (floor)

The floor loses heat to the ground, not outdoor air. Under-slab ground temperature is modelled as Select city's annual mean air temperature (13.0 °C) + 2 K of soil damping.

Thermal bridging

Opaque UA is multiplied by 1.20. Window U-values already include frame effects, so no uplift is applied to glazing.

Infiltration

Qinf = 0.33 × ACH × Volume × ΔT. Volume derives from the floor and average wall height.

Running cost & carbon

Used for the annual cost, carbon and compliance sections of the exported PDF report.
